"Would you believe"....86?

Oh you mean phone number? There are several based on your issue, where you are and your software version. And they do change. That is why the only true way to get a correct current number is to use the contact us link

I am unable to download a stick from a client into their file, because to the ridiculous passwords.

    Hello, Norma3.

If you’re unable to restore QuickBooks portable file due to incorrect credentials, I’d recommend using the Automated Password Reset Tool for QuickBooks Desktop. This will let you set a new password after verifying some of the product’s information. For more information about this process, please refer to this article: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/community/Account-management/Use-the-Automated-Password-Reset-Tool-for-QuickBooks-Desktop/m-p/202652

Though, if you still need assistance from our phone support team, you can reach them through the steps below:

    1. Click Help at the top.
    2. Select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
    3. Click Contact Us.
    4. Give a brief description of your issue and click Continue.

You can always visit the QuickBooks Community space if you have further questions.
