Matching payments

Hello,

I am having difficulty with matching some payments. These payments were deposited into the correct invoices and were credit card payments. However, I noticed they automatically went into the quickbooks checking register, which should’ve gone to the business checking. How can I fix this so I can match the intuit deposit payments into the correct account? Thank you for your help!

When you use QuickBooks Payments, QuickBooks automatically creates a record in the register when a transaction occurs in your bank account, based on the account you have set up, Saless.

 

You can change the automatic recording account in the Accounts and Settings. This ensures that all future transactions will be recorded in the correct account.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Go to the Gear icon, then select Account and settings.
  2. Select Payments, then click the Pencil icon in the Chart of Accounts section.
  3. Choose your Business Checking account from the dropdown options.
  4. Once done, click Save and Done.

 

Please note that changing the automatic recording account will only affect future transactions. It will not change previous transactions.

 

To correct transactions recorded in the QuickBooks Checking register, let's locate each transaction and edit the account to your Business Checking account. This process will reclassify the transactions to the correct one.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Go to Accounting, then select the Chart of accounts.
  2. Locate the QuickBooks Checking Account, then click on the View register.
  3. Click the transaction, then hit Edit.
  4. In the transaction page, select your Business Checking account from the Bank/Credit account dropdown.
  5. Once done, hit Save and close.

 

Please do the same for the other transactions that need to be in the correct checking account.

 

After correcting the accounts of all transactions, you can now start matching them.
