Question

custom report

I created a report last year and cannot remember what template I used.  the top of the report lists a journal account (Unapplied Cash) for period ending 8/25/25

The columns are Date, Type, Ref No, Payee, Memo, Payment (USD), Deposit (USD), status

I have spent time with QB to try and duplicate this report and I cannot find the same columns to choose.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Hi there, Smizzi. We can check the Custom Reports section to see if the report was saved as a custom template last year.

If you can't find it there, we can recreate a similar view by using the Transaction Detail by Account Report. However, please note that there are certain limitations to what standard reports can display. When we customize this report, we won't find the exact "Payee," "Payment (USD)," "Deposit (USD)" columns to choose from, as standard reports use "Debit," "Credit," or "Amount" columns instead.

Here's how to run the report:

  1. Navigate to the Reports menu.
  2. In the Search box, type "Transaction Detail by Account."
  3. Run the report, then in the upper-right corner, click Customize.
  4. Under Filters, select Distribution Account and choose Unapplied Cash Payment.
  5. Set your date range to match the period ending 8/25/25
  6. In the Columns section, select Date, Transaction Type, Num, Memo, Amount, Ref No., and Currency, along with any other fields required to match your previous report.

  7. Once the report matches your desired layout, click Save As to save it as a custom report for easy reuse.

If you are looking to see those exact column headers, that specific layout is actually available in the Account Register view. Please note that the register is a transactional ledger view rather than a standard report, but it will display the exact formatting you remember.
