How can I get monthly subtotals to show in General Ledger Reports in QuickBooks Online?

QuickBooks Online does not offer a built-in option to show monthly subtotals directly within the General Ledger report, Kristy.

The General Ledger report typically shows a detailed list of all transactions by account, but it doesn't group or subtotal them by month within the report itself.

Although the report doesn’t support monthly subtotals, you can easily export it to Excel and create custom monthly subtotals as a practical workaround.

Here's how:

  1. Open the General Ledger report.
  2. Click the Export icon at the top of the report.
  3. Select Export to Excel.

Once the file is open in Excel, you can modify the report by adding monthly subtotals using Excel’s built-in functions.
