QBO Transaction Detail by Class

Good afternoon,

I need to access transaction details by class, and I do not see a clear report already available within QBO, so I am trying to create one. I started with Transaction Detail and wanted to add "class," but it is greyed out and not an option. Help! We currently have QBO Advanced.  Thanks!

Hi there, Abbymc22. Thanks for reaching out to us here in the community about your reporting needs in QuickBooks Online (QBO) Advanced. Since you noticed the "class" option is greyed out when you try to to add it to your report, let’s work together to find a solution and get you the reports you need.

To generate the transaction details by class, you can use the Transaction Detail by Account report, which offers extensive customization options. This allows you to add or remove columns, including the Class column, based on your specific needs. Unlike summary reports, this will give you a detailed view of individual transactions.

Here's how to create a Transaction Detail by Class report:

  1. Go to the Reports menu on the left-hand sidebar.
  2. In the search bar, type and select Transaction Detail by Account.

  3. Click the Customize button at the top right.
  4. In the Rows/Columns section, click Change columns and ensure the Class checkbox is selected.

  5. In the Filter section, find the Class dropdown and select the specific class(es) you want to view. Alternatively, you can filter by Transaction type.
    • Tip: If you'd like to group all transactions by class, leave the filter off and instead select Class in the Group by dropdown at the top of the report.

Once you’ve
customized the report, you can click Save As to save it under a name of your choice, like Transaction Detail by Class, so it’s easy to locate in the future. Alternatively, you can find it under Custom Reports.

If you have any extra questions or need clarity regarding the reports or related features, please don’t hesitate to share them in the comments. I'm committed to providing the support and information you need to make sure everything runs seamlessly. Have a great weekend, and I'll be here to help if you need it.
