I am trying to generate a report of sales by price level or similar. My goal is to determine what percent of sales are retail vs wholesale each month or for a given timeframe. I can't seem find a way to do it.

Hi, @OXUSA. Thank you for reaching the Community. I've come to help you generate a report with sales by price data in QuickBooks Desktop.

For this matter, you can pull up a Sales item by Summary report. This way, you can modify it to determine the percentage of retail vs. wholesale sales for a given time period. Let me guide you on how:

  1. Go to the Reports menu and then select Sales.
  2. Choose Sales item by Summary report.
  3. Click Customize Report.
  4. Modify the report according to your needs.
  5. Click OK.

From there, you can consider checking out this guide here to export the report to the excel file so you’re able to manipulate the data within it. Here’s how:

  1. Open Sales item by Summary report.
  2. Select the Excel on the toolbar. You can also select Print or Email to save the report as a PDF.
  3. To create a new Excel workbook, select Create New Worksheet. If you want to update an existing workbook with the data in the open report, select Update Existing Worksheet. Select Browse and then find the workbook on your computer. Keep in mind, this overwrites the existing workbook.
  4. Select Export.

What are the specific steps to create a SALES REPORT showing CUSTOMER SALES by PRICE LEVEL?  I have 10, 15, 20, 25% wholesale customer price levels setup.  I would like to run a sales report to look at sales by each discount level.  I am able to run a native report called “Sales by Customer Summary” but I am not able to put a filter on there for “Price Level”.  I have tried to generate multiple custom reports as well and nothing I’m able to find or create will show me sales by price level.  I think it’s important to know sales to each discount price level but I have not been able to find any QB report or information on this.  Are you able to detail the steps to pull a custom report like this?

Create a custom tracking field for your price tiers and add it to your reports. Since QuickBooks Desktop can’t include price levels in sales reports, use the Customer Type’s Define Fields feature as a workaround and organize customers by type instead of pricing level.

To create the custom field, follow these steps:

1. Go to Customers and select Customer Center.
2. Double-click any customer, navigate to the Additional Info tab, and click Define Fields.
3. In a new row, label the field Price Tier, check the Cust box, and click OK.

Next, assign price tiers to your customers:

1. In the customer’s profile, go to the Additional Info tab.
2. Locate the new Price Tier field.
3. Enter the specific rate (e.g., 10%, 15%, etc.) and click OK.

You can now run and filter your report:

1. Go to Reports, click Sales, then select Sales by Customer Detail.
2. Click Customize Report in the top-left corner.
3. On the Display tab, check the box next to Price Tier to add it as a column.
4. Select the Filters tab, search for the Price Tier field, and select the specific percentage or rate you want to view.
5. Click Memorize at the top of the screen to save this layout so you don't have to rebuild it next time.

QuickBooks applies the new Price Tier only to transactions created after this setup. For existing invoices, you can manually open and re-save them to update the data.
