I have a column on my invoice for unbilled mileage.  How can I sum that column to get total miles?

You can run a report to get the total miles instead, DMoniz.

Getting the total miles from the unbilled mileage column of an invoice is not an option. QuickBooks has two mileage reports though: Mileage by Job and Mileage by Vehicle.

To generate the report, just follow these steps:

  1. Click Reports at the top.
  2. Select Jobs, Time & Mileage, and then choose between the Mileage by Vehicle or Job Summary.
  3. From the report, click the Customize Report button in the upper right-hand corner.
  4. Go to the Filters tab.
  5. Type Total Miles in the Search Filters field.
  6. Select Any or enter the total manually.
  7. Click OK.

If you'd like to print the report, just let me know and I'll show you how. Thanks.

@DMoniz

Where does the data in the mile column come from?

Typically on an invoice you use an item, number of miles * rate

But to answer your question directly, only enterprise can total some columns.

You could use one of the 3rd-party calculation add-ons for QuickBooks, either FormCalc SST for QuickBooks or CCRQInvoice. I know SST could do the job and I'm pretty sure CCRQI could as well. Google them to find them on the Web.
