941 e-payment rejected / EFTPS password expired

Every time I try to submit my 941 deposit through the QB e-pay (QB premier 2019) it tells me the payment is rejected due to the internet password being expired.  However, when I log on to EFTPS, it accepts the same password and does not tell me that I need to change/update it.

The latest payment I processed through QB e-pay (QB Premier 2019), I got the e-mail notification that it was rejected.  When I go into payment history in the payroll liability section, it shows the payment status being 'complete'.  Any ideas on this?

I am a user of QB and we have this problem from time to time, this is what I have discovered to fix it for us.

  1. EFTPS system, if you login to it, you are more likely to have a problem with QB on the next payroll. Password related.
  2. Go to EFTPS and reset your password. Make sure it is 12 characters and not anymore or less. 12 seems to be what Quickbooks is able to pass along, 13 or more will fail.
  3. When you are in Quickbook, doing the automatic E-Pay screen, where you entering your PIN, make sure you UN-CHECK the save password. Then process the payment.
    1. Old Pin
    2. New Password
    3. NOT Checked to save password,
    4. 2-weeks from now, when you enter all the info again, NOW you can save the password.
Quickbooks has a Caching problem and the password saved is wrong/old/etc. Bug that has existed for years.

This is my observations, your milage may vary...
