Configure print settings for cheques in QuickBooks Online

To ensure your cheques print correctly on pre-printed cheque stock, you need to align your printer settings in QuickBooks Online. Once your settings are aligned, you can confidently print cheques individually or in batches.

Note: You can use your own cheques to print, but they need to be formatted for QuickBooks. Or, you can order QuickBooks compatible cheques from Intuit.





Before you start

You will need the following items and settings to align your printer successfully:

  • The latest version of Adobe Reader. Get it here.
  • Adobe Reader set as your browser’s PDF reader. Learn how here.
  • Plain paper to test print and avoid wasting actual cheques.

Set up and align cheques for printing

Follow these steps for a test print to align your cheques. 

  1. Follow this link to complete the steps in product Open this link in a new window
  2. Select Print Cheques.
  3. Select Print setup.
    Note: If you don’t see this option, skip this step.
  4. Select your cheque type, Voucher or Standard.
  5. Select View preview and print sample. Then select Print.
  6. Repeat this process as needed. When your cheques are aligned correctly, select Yes, I'm finished with setup.

Troubleshooting printing alignment

If the sample print is still misaligned, you might need to adjust your print settings. Here are some tips for adjusting the scale of your tool.
