How to open and/or carry-forward returns prior to this 12-year limit?

To improve performance and to increase ProFile stability the ProFile product team came to the difficult decision to limit the available years. This change is described in the article you posted. Because of the change there will not be access to those years removed. Some users may have a dedicated computer with an older version of ProFile installed to handle situations where the older modules are required.

I understand the rational, but hope that Profile soon provides a proper solution & not rely on its clients maintaining an old version.
