Direct Deposit Setup Issue

Using QuickBooks Accountant Desktop Plus 2024.

Trying to setup a client to use Direct Deposit to pay employees.

I type in all the information asked for from the Activate Direct Deposit (Employees>My Payroll Service>Activate Direct Deposit) screen.

When I click on Accept and Submit get a screen saying "something's not quite right".

I have tried resetting updates, accessing the QBW.ini File and manipulating "PAYROLL_BUNDLE_STATE=Y" to no avail, tried running QB as an Admin, and used Verify Data (no issues).

Need to have this setup by end of day.

Thanks in advance.

If you’re encountering the same error message above and haven’t tried any fixes yet, let’s go through the troubleshooting process to get your Direct Deposit up and running.

First, be sure to log into your company file using admin access. Then, download and install the most recent release of the software to ensure you have access to the latest feature, fixes, and uninterrupted services.

After that, follow these steps to activate direct deposit and process payroll in QuickBooks:

  1. Press F2 on your keyboard, then F3 to open the Tech Help window.
  2. Select the Open File tab
  3. Double-click the QBW.INI file to open it.
  4. Locate the part of the qbw.ini file that shows: [QBLICENSE] PAYROLL_BUNDLE_STATE=Y
  5. Change the to N.
  6. Select File > Save to save the qbw.ini with the changes
  7. Return to QuickBooks and try accessing the WF Invites or PTC again.

Once you get the Payroll Activation screen, return to the steps above, but instead of changing the Y to N in Step 5, completely delete the section [QBLICENSE] PAYROLL_BUNDLE_STATE=Y].
