Hello there, jeff jones.

Welcome to the Community. I'm here to lend a hand with your question about upgrading QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Switching over to QuickBooks Online by migrating data is currently unavailable at this time. You may need to enter the information manually into the system or try importing them using CSV files.

For additional insights into importing CSV files into QuickBooks Online and the limitations, I'm adding the articles I recommend on this:

How very disappointing. I’m very u happy with Quickbooks and the lack user options. This is the final straw and I’m cancelling my subscription

Hello there, @jeff jones

I personally know there may come a time where your business expands and you need the more robust accounting features of QB Online. While this option is currently unavailable, you can switch over from QB Self-Employed to QB Online by choosing the two options below:

  1. You can manually enter the data in QB Online.
  2. Export your data from QB Self-Employed to Excel Spreadsheets. Then, you can import it into QB Online. Here's the link you can refer to: Importing Data From Excel Spreadsheets

You can also check out these common questions about importing data.

If you haven't set up your QB Online company, you can watch these instructional videos to help you get started through this link: Getting Started. In this link, you'll get to know your dashboard and learn how to perform basic tasks while using the program.

Please know that I'm listening to your comments in QuickBooks. But, the two options above and the online version will help improve your experience not to cancel your QB subscription, @jeff jones.

You can count me in if you need anything else. Have a good day.
