Cannot connect PayPal

The chat is extremely unhelpful and keeps saying it’s a PayPal issue. 
Uploading a cvs file isn’t working for me either for some reason. 
Is there an end in sight yet?

If not I fear I’ll have to move to another service.

I am still getting the same message about we can't confirm it is you.

If I try again immediately it says there is a problem and I don't even get to login.

 

So still not further forward despite a couple of times QB showing a fix time and date.

 

QB admins - Any idea when this is going to be resolved please?

@usersuzanneflux Aw man that sucks! I had to use a desktop computer, open a private browser (incognito), disable pop ups, I then had to enable 2 step verification with the Google authenticator app on my Business PayPal account to be able to turn off 2 step verification, and then and only then after 3 or 4 attempts doing the process in exactly the same way did it work.

One thing I forgot to mention is that when I try and connect sometimes it says I'm giving consent for 90 days and sometimes for 180 days?  I've been trying in the app and in a Chrome browser.

 

A bit odd as I thought it was always 90 days?

I'd be glad to share additional info about downloaded transactions in QuickBooks. 

 

After you connect your account, some banks let you download the last 90 days of transactions. While others can go back as far as 24 months. Therefore, the number of days on which you can download the transactions depends on the financial institution.

 

Since you're unable to connect your PayPal account, I suggest manually uploading your transactions into QuickBooks Online. This will ensure that your account is up to date.

 

Moreover, you can utilize these articles when reviewing and reconciling accounts in QuickBooks.

Currently, there's an ongoing investigation for the specific issue regarding the PayPal verification message: QBO UK Banking - Error unable to verify on the PayPal page when attempting to connect PayPal to QBO (INV-102319), and it has already been raised to our Product Engineering Team, and the resolution of the issue described will be implemented across all QuickBooks Online (QBO) accounts.

 

Moreover, I suggest contacting our Customer Support Team for you to be added to the list of affected users. Once resolved, you will then receive an email notification. To reach out to our Customer Support Team, here's how:

 

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Select Help (?).
  3. In QB Assistant, enter the topic you need help with. You can also enter questions.
  4. In Search, select Contact Us to connect with a live support agent.
  5. Choose a way to connect with us:
    • Start a chat with a support expert. Live chat all day, M-F.
    • Call us. M-F, 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM, and S-S, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

 

In the meantime, we can proceed with manually uploading your transactions into QuickBooks Online, as suggested by my colleague, @ReymondO, to ensure that your account is up to date.

How long do you estimate that the fix will take?

 

Other issues that I have had with Quickbooks seems to have taken several months to resolve - other issues are not being resolved at all.

 

Your suggestion to use Quickbooks Assistant - The Assistant does not work!

 

Please suggest & request to the QB Development team that while they are fixing the Paypal issue, that the Assistant is repaired and made available again. Also please add custom categories to Quick Books Self Employed to make it a proper accounting tool, which currently it is not - despite QB marketing and Advertising stating that it is.

I'm having trouble with my PayPal and quickbook connection?

There is nothing wrong with my paypal account, i've receiving payments and can log in with no issues

I’ve tried chrome, edge and Firefox and all have the same error
Any idea what I can do ? There seems to have been issues with quickbooks and PayPal for me for weeks now with an error message but was working still but now it is not updating any transactions

Upon checking here, I've found an ongoing investigation about PayPal attempting to connect to QBO (INV-102319). Rest assured, our product engineers are currently looking for the root cause to develop a permanent solution.

 

If you haven't, I'd suggest contacting our QuickBooks support team to add you to the list of affected users and be informed promptly once the issue is resolved.

 

Here's how:

  1. Log in to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account.
  2. Click the Help button at the top right corner.
  3. Go to the Search tab, then select Contact Us.
  4. Enter a summary of your concern, then click Continue.
  5. Choose a way to connect with us. You can either choose Chat with us or Have us call you.

 

Lastly, I've added an article you can browse for you to be able to make sure your downloaded transactions end up in the right accounts: Set up bank rules to categorise online banking transactions in QBO.

thank you for your quick response, I'll contact quickbooks support as suggested,

 

doesn't sound too promising though if it's been an ongoing issue that has not been fixed and I find the connection (when it works) saves me a lot of time.

I'm having the same issue. I can't connect reconnect to paypal. "We're sorry, we couldn't confirm it's you".

 

Please don't respond by saying to use the chat or callback feature because it doesn't work. I have tried in multiple browers and incognito and it just gives me an infinite spinning wheel. I don't want to manually import data because last time it messed up my whole books and I had to go through and manually check all my records for that tax year.

 

Please fix this issue and fix your chat support system.

Update: Now when I click reconnect nothing happens. It doesn't even open the paypal window. Quickbooks dev team have really dropped the ball on this one. I'm going to need to start looking for alternative solutions at this rate.

Our banking team are working to understand the cause and we've added you to our investigation as an impacted user. If you urgently need to update your account in the meantime, you can manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Self-Employed. Thank you for your patience while we work to fix.

I hope everyone can see this as it will help enormously. 
I registered my problems directly with PayPal who forwarded my concerns to their merchant support. 
They have now sorted the problem and I’m able to connect again. At least for now. 
My notification of the problem being rectified came from PayPal too. 

I hope this info helps some of you.

Thanks for not reading what I wrote. I'll wait until quickbooks dev team figure it out. However I'm not holding my breath as it's been over a week. I'll start looking in to alternative solutions, because this is unacceptable. I hope people will be getting refunds as the product is currently not functioning as intended.

Thanks @Kaye10. Sadly quickbooks have managed to break the reconnect feature completely now and it no long brings up the PayPal window. So PayPal is unable to help.

I would still also recommend contacting paypal support though, as they are forwarding people to provide quickbooks source code so their dev team can figure out the issue. Hopefully this will put pressure on quickbooks to solve the issue. There seems to be minimal effort from quickbooks to solve the issue for over a week and all we are getting here is copy pasted responses.
