Cannot connect PayPal

I hope it gets resolved for you quickly @Jack115

I can’t believe how long Quickbooks are taking. When I went through their recommended route of reporting the problem, which wasn’t easy to begin with it seemed the person on the end wasn’t aware of the on going problem.

Anyhow, after a week of no joy, I went through PayPal and it’s literally been 3 days and now it seems to be sorted. They also kept me updated with their progress.

I have been trying all day and it worked for me now too! It looks like PayPal probably helped them resolve it. Don't worry quickbooks devs, you can go back to sleep now.

Congratulations michellew01!

Hopefully this means the problem has been solved and we can all go back to do the jobs we get paid for :)

Have a nice evening!

Awesome Jack115!

I doubt the dev team is going back to sleep. They are busy programing new features none of us have asked for ;).

Honestly, QB has it's limitations, but overall it does the job, at an attractive price point for small organizations like us. What could be better is the customer support team. There are some real gems who give out incorrect advice with total confidence to then be corrected by one of their own experts - weeks later. QB, please train your support staff. They want to help, so give them the tools and training.

Is it possible to connect Paypal to QuickBooks Self Employed and only import 2 weeks transactions?

When I tried it seemed to automatically bring in many more than I wanted & I couldn't see anywhere to set a start date to import from.

Thanks.

Thank you for joining the thread, @JSSE. I'm here to help you with importing your desired transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE).

QBSE automatically downloads the past 90 days of transactions from your connected bank and credit card accounts. In some cases, it can even download up to a year's worth of transactions. Whenever you log in, QBSE will automatically download any new transactions from your linked accounts to keep your financial records up-to-date.

However, if you want to exclude unwanted transactions, here's how you can do it:

  1. Go to the Transactions menu.
  2. Find the transaction you want to exclude and select it to expand the view.
  3. Select the Exclude this transaction checkbox.
  4. Select Save.

If you need to import earlier transactions, you can do so using a CSV file from your bank:

  1. Sign in to your bank's or Paypal's website and download your transactions as a CSV file.
  2. Go to the Settings and select Import transactions.
  3. Find your bank account and select "Import older transactions" under the Action column.
  4. Click Browse and select the CSV file you downloaded from your bank.
  5. Check the column headers and data in the CSV file to ensure that the Date, Description, and Amount columns match the columns and order in QuickBooks. Other column headers can be in any order.
  6. Select Continue to complete the import.

Additionally, you can categorise and manually add transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Please don't hesitate to contact us if you need any further assistance managing your Paypal transactions in QBSE. I'm here to help you all the way.

Hi JorgetteG,

Thanks, but my questions was

"Is it possible to connect Paypal to QuickBooks Self Employed and only import 2 weeks transactions?"

When I tried it seemed to automatically bring in many more than I wanted - possibly 90 days & I couldn't see anywhere to set a start date to import from.

Ideally we should be able to select the date from when we sync the Paypal (or other account) with QBSE.

Thanks.

I appreciate what you've done on your end, @JSSE. Let me add details as to what my colleague provided in importing transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE).

As per mentioned by @JorgetteG, QBSE automatically downloads up to 90 days worth of transactions. Others may cater for up to 24 months.

However, since you'd want to import two weeks of transactions, I'd recommend manually adding them. This way, we can find the specific transactions and record them manually.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Transaction menu and select Add transaction.
  2. Enter the amount and a description.
  3. Select the Select a category menu. Learn more about categories.
  4. If you have a receipt, you can drag and drop it onto the form.
  5. Once done, select Save.

Also, we can connect your bank or credit card account to QuickBooks Self-Employed to import and categorise your recent transactions.

In addition, I've added this article for you to check and learn how to categorise the transactions you download from your bank or enter into QBSE: Categorise transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Please click the Reply button if you need additional assistance managing transactions in QBSE. I'll be on the lookout. Keep safe.

Hi MAJ,

Thanks - yes, when I import from a csv file I can select the start date and only import the date range that I wanted - I had hoped to be able to do this with the auto sync method.

It would be good to have that option available in the auto sync method - can this be requested as an improvement to the current system where it automatically pulls in 90 days?

Thanks.

JSSE.

Hello there, JSSE.

I understand how efficient it is for you to have the option to automatically pull in transactions 90 days old. I suggest sending a feature request to our software engineers. They may consider adding this in future product updates.

To send feedback, kindly open your QBSE account in your mobile phone. Then, follow the steps below:

  1. Select the Assistant tab.
  2. Type Send Feedback, then click the Add feature

I've also included this article that contains details on categorizing the transactions you download from your bank or enter into QuickBooks: Categorise and match bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Please drop by again if you have other questions about handling any QuickBooks-related concerns. I'm always here to help you. Have a good one.

Hi SirielJeaB,

Thanks, but as my post above said, I was trying to find a way NOT to automatically import 90 days - I just wanted to import 2 weeks.
