Join nowHi All - Not sure if this falls under account management. However we recently upgraded from QB Desktop Enterprise 21 and Desktop Pro Plus 20. We use both as 1 is simply for the admins to do invoicing and POs on. Since we upgraded to Desktop Enterprise & Pro Plus 2024 we can't open both at the same time. We used to be able to. The tech support can't figure out the problem and said it should be ok. I'm *guessing* that its because it's the same year. Would anyone have any clue if there's a workaround or just wait until Enterprise has 2025 and upgrade then so it's 2 different years. Thanks The message I get is below
** Quickbooks already has a company file open. If you want to open another company file close this one first. Only QB accountant and QB Enterprise Solutions can open 2 company files at once**
Thanks for reaching out to the Community, RichL12. I appreciate your detailed information.
You can work in multiple versions of QuickBooks at the same time. For example, if you're working in Premier 2019, you can also open Premier 2018. However, you can only open a same year of Premier and Enterprise if you're subscribed to our Accountant edition.
I can certainly understand how an ability to open multiple versions of QuickBooks for the same year could be useful and have submitted a suggestion about it as of today.
You can also submit your own feature requests while signed in.
Here's how:
Your feedback's definitely valuable to Intuit. It will be reviewed by our Product Development team and considered in future updates. You can stay up-to-date with the latest news about your product by reviewing Intuit's Product Updates webpage.
I've also included a detailed resource about using multiple versions of QuickBooks which may come in handy moving forward: Install & use multiple QuickBooks versions on one computer
I'll be here to help if there's any additional questions. Have an awesome Wednesday!
So I guess same year of Enterprise and Pro won't work. I have to wait until 2025 comes out so it'll be 2 different years?
You can run QB Desktop 2021 Pro and Enterprise at the same time, correct? You should also be able to run QBD 2024 Pro Plus and Enterprise at the same time. From time to time, we were unable to run QBD Pro/Premier and Enterprise at the same time on certain Release versions. We had to wait for one of them to be updated to a newer Release version to fix the problem.
