Password Reset tool has stopped working

One of my QB books didn't have password before. When I try to open it with QB 2015 and QB ask to enter password. I don't know it so I try to use PasswordReset tool to reset the password.

I get the token from QB by email and enter all information. the tool passed validate the token. get .dll file and attempt to open the file. Then the tool is stopped working. A pop up windows shows the message: " A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will closed the program and notify you if a solutions is available". The only button I can click is "Close Program".

I use windows 7 Home Premium and .Net Framework 4.7.1.

Password Reset tool has stopped working

Hi omegaco.

Thanks for posting here in the Community. I want to make sure you're able to use the Password Reset Tool.

The Password Reset Tool is showing this glitch due to a new set of system requirements that's currently being implemented. Not to worry though, I've got information for you on how to get it fixed. This first article covers using the Automated Password Reset Tool within QuickBooks: https://community.intuit.com/articles/1501540-use-the-automated-password-reset-tool-for-quickbooks-d....

This write up includes the new system requirements for QuickBooks Desktop 2015 and later and what you'll need to do: https://community.intuit.com/articles/1638545-operating-system-internet-explorer-and-net-framework-r....

If you need additional assistance, you may want to contact a member of the Desktop Support Team. Agents have the necessary tools, like screen-sharing, to get the Password Reset Tool running again. The most up-to-date contact information can be found here: https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact.

This should get everything back in working order. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
