EFTPS 4-digit PIN

I need to change my Internet Password for the EFTPS sign in, but I can't see my 4-digit PIN in QB Desktop to use to do my login.  I cannot find the original enrollment letter I printed out.  Is there a way to see the PIN and not just asterisks when I go to send the payment in QBs?

Hi there, rebeccahaines1.

It's nice to see you back here in QuickBooks Community, rebeccahaines1.

Currently, there's no option to see the PIN in QuickBooks Desktop for security reasons. I suggest contacting the EFTPS support team so they'll be able to resend your PIN by U.S. Mail. The IRS can schedule a payment for you in the meantime if you verify certain information. For safety reasons, your PIN must be mailed and can't be given to you over the phone. For additional information, you can click this article: Enroll in Electronic Federal Tax Payment System (EFTPS).

To see the detailed steps on how you can change your password in QuickBooks Desktop to match your new EFTPS Internet password, you can open this article: Update your EFTPS Internet password.

Please refer to this article to view information on how you can see the status of your payment or filing: Check e-file or e-pay status.

As always, please mention me if you have any more questions with QuickBooks. You have me here to help you get back on track. Have a nice day!

I wish there was a way as well to see the PIN number that QB uses. I've been using QB online payroll since 2016. I had setup an account through EFTPS at that time and used that info to give to QB to be able to pay my payroll taxes for me. Since then I haven't needed to manually pay taxes through EFTPS. However, now I need to pay Q4 2021 941 taxes because of the repeal of the Employee Retention Credit. The way that QB figured the taxes owed was incorrect according to my accountant and I need to pay the tax manually. I saved my EFTPS login info including the 4 digit pin, BUT when I go to login now, it's denying me access. SO i'm really confused, obviously, but also frustrated because I've been on hold for well over 2 hours at this point with customer service at EFTPS to try and see what the deal is with the PIN not working. A 45 minute phone call to Intuit earlier today yielded some initial help of getting rid of the 'overdue tax' notices, however now I see that they aren't quite resolved correctly either because my 941 Q4 form now shows those deleted tax payments (falsely) as credits.

Yep, sorry to hear. Just got off the phone with EFTPS - not to give away any spoilers, BUT they said if you don't login to their system for any reason within 18 months they 'close' your account / access. Which really doesn't make much sense being that QB is able to make payments on my behalf. Anyways - the solution to make a manual payment is to do what I had initially thought, but didn't do out of fear of messing up QB's ability to make my tax payments... just re-sign up for an account with EFTPS. That's what the woman told me to do. Go through the whole process again, which means waiting for the PIN to show up through the mail. She verified that creating a new account WILL NOT mess up the mojo QB already has with my EIN and the ability to make tax payments on my behalf. Hopefully that's true and we don't end up on another 3 hour phone call!
