Allow me to provide additional insights into this printing W2 concern.
As mentioned by my colleague above, the stored cache in your browser is sometimes the reason that makes the program unresponsive. To get this issue sorted out, let's try printing using a private browser. Doing this will help us determine if the issue is browser-related.
Here are the different keyboard shortcuts to open a private browser:
If it works, you'll have to go back to your regular browser and then clear the cache to get rid of the junk files. You can also use other supported browsers as an alternative.
If the issue persists, I'd suggest contacting our Customer Care Team. They have the necessary tools to work with you to find out what exactly may be causing this issue.

I am having problems printing my W2s also. I was able to print out of the file and had my W3 printed and my copy of the W2s, when I wanted to print my 4up W2s, it doesn't let me. I click print and it goes back to the same screen, no other options. I've updated, I've re-booted and I don't know anything else to do except call support.

It's only giving me the option of printing 4-up not 3-up how do I get the PDF to do 3-UP?
In QBO, go to settings (cog at top right), Payroll Settings, edit W2 print preferences, and there you can change to 4-part perforated paper

Hello, I am having a problem with either the top W-2 lines up but the bottom one is not at all or visa versa. There is no medium ground in moving it up or down.
Thanks for becoming part of the Community, Pamela27.
Before printing W-2 data on preprinted forms, I'd recommend running a print test on a blank sheet of paper to confirm if your alignment is accurate with the boxes on your form.
Here's how:
If the text aligns properly with its appropriate boxes, you can now print your form using the preprinted forms. If it doesn't align, you can adjust its alignment:
I've also included a couple detailed resources about printing W-2 forms which may come in handy moving forward:

I am having this EXACT problem. It just does NOTHING when you click 'print pdf'.
My workaround was to uninstall Adobe and then to print them and they fed immediately to my PC's default pdf reader which was in Microsoft Edge. I don't care for Edge at all, and I never understand sending a pdf to a web browser, but it definitely helped in this case.
Good Luck!
Right now, I cannot print any pdf's from QB, including but not limited to, W-2, 1099, 941, 940, IL 941, FUTA, State Unemployment. I've spent 6 hours in the past two days trying to resolve it. Apparently, I am not the only one who is having issues. My anger level is higher than the Sears Tower.
I am trying to print W2's and it keeps making me update. I update but it still sends me to update.
That doesn't help is there a way to over ride?
Hi LauraC321,
Thank you for letting us know about this behavior.
If you haven't already, please restart your QuickBooks or your computer so the updates will be completed. However, if you'll still be prompted to update, please contact our QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Support, so they can check this further using more tools. They are open on weekdays from 6 AM to 6 PM PT.
Let me know if you have other concerns with your form. Have a good one!
I still cannot print. Pop-ups are enabled. The link you mention below is invalid. Seriously, how hard is it to resolve this issue?
My issues is even worse. I cant even view my filed forms. I get s Error Displaying NULL message. Before you ask, my pop-ups are enabled, my Adobe Acrobat is updated. I have cleared cache. Would love any other suggestions.
I am having the same problem, went through every note and recommendation! I am struggling with paying QB prices (almost doubled) and I have been using quickbooks desktop since 1998. I can't print w-2's 4up on preprinted and it appears this is an ongoing issue. One would think that if it can't be corrected they could give a shout out to let you know before spending hours trying to correct it and the cost of ordering forms that can't be printed.
I am pretty upset right now.
I am having the same issue. I cannot get the W-2 or W-3 to print. I keep getting a "Script Error"
Thanks for joining this thread, JLB153.
I understand how this script error affecting your navigation in QuickBooks.
Script errors are generally connected to Internet Explorer. QuickBooks by default uses that browser's settings to connect with the internet. We have different steps to get past it.
First, you'll have to set up Internet Explorer to be your default browser.
Next, let's add Intuit as a trusted site in Internet Explorer. Here's how:
Then, we'll have to disable add-ons on the Internet Explorer. Here's how:
Lastly, clear Internet Explorer's cache data.
For you to view W-2 forms, you'll have to log in to your account and enter your Payroll Pin.
Here's how you can do it:

Has anyone resolved this?
My w-2 forms are 2 per page. QB does not align with form. I thought maybe I would use only top or bottom of form to get a proper alignment, but even this does not work. QB seems to have this sort of problem every year.
I cannot align both the top and bottom of pre-printed W-2 purchased at Staples. Also, the top employee (on a two part form) does not show the ss# in the correct box, way off. bottom employee is correct. In addition the top employee on form does not have our EIN at all. The employees ss# is printing in the EIN box and there is a blank in ss# box. Help?
