Let me be the first to welcome you to the Community forum. I can walk you through editing an existing estimate.


Find the transaction you want to edit and change the information that needs to be updated. Let me show you how:

  1. Go to Customers menu and select Customer Center.
  2. Select the customer on the estimate you want to edit.
  3. On the right side portion of the screen, click the Transaction tab.
  4. In the Show drop-down, select Estimates.
  5. Look for the estimate you want to edit and double-click to open it.
  6. Update the details on the transaction.
  7. Hit Save & Close.

    Hello -  is there any way to view the previous versions of an estimate that has been edited.  It looks like QB saves the most current estimate - but I cannot see where we can go back and view an previous version.

    Hello @FC-Install,

     

    QuickBooks has a report called the Audit Trail report that you can use to view any additions, deletions, or modifications of the transaction. Let me guide you how to pull up the report.

     

    1. Go to Reports, Accountant & Taxes, then Audit Trail. 
    2. Select Customize Report and then the Filters tab.
    3. In the Search Filters field, enter Transaction Type.
    4. Choose Estimate in the Transaction Type drop-down. Then, OK.
    5. Make sure to edit the Date Entered/Last Modified.

    The Audit Trail report is sorted by the user who created or last modified the transaction, the transaction type, and the date the transaction was created or last modified.

     

    On the other hand, when you edit the estimate make sure to select Add Change Order. This way, you'll be able to track the changes in the estimate. I've added some screenshots for you so you'll have an idea of how it looks like.
