I am in the process of transitioning to QBO from Pro Desktop. I use classes quite extensively and in the desktop version I can assign a class to a particular invoice and a different class to each line item on the invoice. Can I do both with QBO or only the line items? If it possible how?
I've attached a screenshot of the desktop version where I enter classes.

In QBO classes track line items
locations track the whole transaction, like in desktop when you use a class up by the customer name that is for the whole transaction, that would have to be a location tag in QBO
a non partisan comparison of QBO vs QB desktop

Welcome to the Community, @Maximum!
In QuickBooks, you have two options when assigning classes to your transactions. Let me provide these options to you to help further.
You can track classes in your transactions by assigning them per transaction, or per line item.
Let me guide you in turning on your class tracking in QuickBooks.
Also, you can turn on your location tracking by ticking the Track Locations in your Accounts and Settings.
