Buy nowAre we going to be required to use QuickBooks online for payroll starting May 1st? I am a CPA doing multiple payrolls and some of my clients would not be willing or able to pay the costs of QuickBooks online.
Hello, @HurstAcct1. Welcome to the Community!
To accurately address your concern, can you provide additional details? Your response will be greatly appreciated.
I'm looking forward to your reply.
Somewhere I got the idea that we would no longer be able to do payroll on desktop. Is this just for clients who do their own payroll as opposed to accountants who do multiple payrolls per week? I'm not sure what else to tell you so if you can ask more specific questions, I'll try to give you more info.
You can still purchase QB Desktop 2024 Pro Plus or Premier Plus + Enhanced Payroll. Intuit will support it until 2027.
I use Accountants Pro Plus. Do we know how long it will be supported?
Intuit will support QB Desktop 2024 Pro Plus, Premier Plus, Mac Plus and Accountant Plus until 2027.
Hello there, @HurstAcct1.
It's my pleasure to assist you today and ensure to address your concern.
Beforehand, what version of QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) Accountants Pro Plus you're using?
The QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) program has a 3-year cycle. So, if you're using the 2021 version, it will discontinued after May 31, 2024. This includes all 2021 versions of QuickBooks Desktop. Discontinued versions won't receive the latest critical security patches and updates, as well as using Payroll and other add-on services.
You'll need to upgrade to the latest version or move to QuickBooks Online to continue using Payroll, receive critical security updates protecting your data, and access live technical support if you run into problems or any other Intuit services integrated with QBDT.
For more details about QBDT service discontinuation, refer to this article: QuickBooks Desktop service discontinuation policy. It includes helpful info on how to upgrade your desktop product or how to move to QuickBooks Online.
I'm attaching this article for future reference in case you want to import or export data from QBDT: Import and export data in QuickBooks Desktop.
Keep me updated in the comment section if you have clarification about managing your Desktop account. I'm always around to help you.
I'm using the 2024 version. I get the new version each year.
