Memorial Day Sale 90% OFF QuickBooks for 3 months.* Limited time only
Buy now & saveWe're a small business. Been using QB for 20 years. We used it the same for 2 decades. Check, online banking. 2 banks and 2 credit card to reconcile once a month.
Until 2023 we updated the software every 2 years and paid $250.
2023 it went up on subscription to $530
2024 it went up to $689
2025 it's going up to $999
400% in 3 years for a small business with one license for desktop version and no payroll.
And the reason? QB is a monopoly on this end and small and medium size businesses don't have other options. So this is what we get. CPAs will work only with QB. I called my accountant of many years. She says that QB are crooks and criminals on this end squeezing small businesses with no alternative but she can only work with this.
This is NOT right. MS office doesn't cost like this. None of the online software we use had the nerve to raise rates like this. Only a monopoly can do this and QB exploiting us small business to the last cent. I bet you next year there will be another raise. We use the same version with same options for 20 years now. QB only gives one alternative to the Desktop version, the basic and now it costs $999 a year.
Robbery in daylight. Disgusting. Shame on YOU QB.
You can renew your license thru a reseller and get $200 cashback. Another option, switch to an old QB Desktop with a non subscription license.
NO. You lose all online banking options which is needed for small business.
You can use an importer tool and get it for free if required.

I don't like all this. My post is about price due to being a monopoly entity. I think it's outrages.
Filling an FTC complaint as well. I did some research. The FTC went after Intuit in the past over this.
I agree with you, we recieved a 20% increase no justification just because they can since there is no competition.
Only 20% increase? Are you using QB Desktop or Online?
Only? It's 400% increase since 2023. What are you talking about.
Desktop version. 1 License only.
Desktop and that was change from 2024 to 2025
Completely agree. I also have used QB for more than 20 years. And now they are adding more fees, per employee and multi-company. Will be looking for alternative solutions to QB. This is price gouging.
QB controls 85% of this market. It's technically a monopoly. The FTC has a long issue with Intuit over pricing.
It literally bullies small business with these price increase. Absurd.
You can renew your license through a reseller and you can get $200 cashback to lower your costs. Another option, if you don't need to run any add-ons, switch to old QB Desktop with a non subscription license. You can also use a 3rd party payroll app and import the payroll data as IIF to QB Desktop.
Then I will lose all my online banking option. I have to pay this. QB is bullying small business who has been loyal for decades just because it can.
I think the 50% rise in cost is over a poor launch of the new software from 2 years ago. It riddles with bugs therefore QB need a lot of customer support who most are clueless to help. Before 2023, I rarely called support maybe once every 2-3 years. Since 2023, I have been calling every 2 months with issues from bugs in backups, through issues with online banking to just poor software performance. This is all QB fault and we small busines are paying the hefty price.
You can use TP Importer as a workaround to integrate with an old QB Desktop. It's a $199 one time license and you can get it for free through a reseller.
