QBW.exe - Fatal Application Exit

We have over 30 user that use QuickBooks version 24 and only one of them is having a issue where the go to Customs& Jobs click on a name and we get the error "QBW.EXE - Fatal Application Exit -Aborting Application: QuickBooks is now terminating" a different person and different pc does the same thing to the company file and they dont have issues. Below is what we have done:
1. Moved pc to latest version of Windows 11 24h2 (we are testing 25H2 right now)
2. redid the user profile
3. Replaced the computer with a freshly loaded Windows 11 24H2

But nothing works and user is getting frustrated, understandably.

QBW.exe - Fatal Application Exit

I appreciate you for sharing the steps you’ve already tried, eprunty.

Let me guide you through some troubleshooting steps to help you successfully access the Customers & Jobs page.

To begin with, download and install the QuickBooks Tool Hub. This utility is designed to fix common errors in QuickBooks Desktop. For the best results, we recommend using it on Windows 11, 64-bit.

Here’s how to install:

  1. Close QuickBooks.
  2. Download the latest version (1.6.0.8) of the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Save the file to an easily accessible location, such as your Downloads folder or desktop.
  3. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe) and follow the on-screen steps to install, then agree to the terms and conditions.
  4. When the installation is complete, double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.

Once done, you can run the Quick Fix my Program. This will close any background processes running in QuickBooks and perform a quick repair of the program.

Follow these steps:

  1. Open the QuickBooks Tool Hub, and go to the Program Problems tab.
  2. Select Quick Fix my Program.
  3. Start QuickBooks Desktop and open your data file.

If the issue persists, it could be related to how the company file is opening. Follow the steps to ensure all QuickBooks windows are closed upon file launch:

  1. Open QuickBooks Desktop, but do not select a company file to open yet.
  2. In the No Company Open, locate and select your company file.
  3. Press and hold ALT on your keyboard, then select Open. Don't let go of ALT until the file opens. Release the ALT key, enter your credentials, then press and hold ALT again while clicking OK.

You can suppress the QuickBooks application to prevent background processes that may cause errors. Follow the steps below:

  1. Press and hold the Ctrl key, then double-click the QuickBooks Desktop icon.
  2. Don't release the Ctrl key until you see the No Company Open window, QuickBooks freezes, or gives you an error.
  3. Click a company file and choose Open.

If none of the above solutions resolve the issue, I recommend checking out this article for more solutions: QuickBooks Desktop won't open.
