Quickbooks 21, up to date. Windows 10. This is on the server.
Scenario: Only the Admin is logged in to the Quickbooks file, which is in Single User mode. I click File and choose "Switch to Single User Mode". I get an error that says "You cannot switch to Single User mode because someone else has just started using the file in Multi User Mode." I clear the prompt and Quickbooks relaunches into Mutli User Mode. I get an error says "Only one user may use bank feeds at the same time. Another user (something something...)" I clear this message and Quickbooks seems to freeze. Maybe it'll load, I don't know, I run out of patience about 10 minutes into waiting and end task and relaunch.
This problem existed back when we were on QB 18. At that time, it was a crapshoot whether or not I'd be able to reopen the file at all. That part of the problem was solved by upgrading to 21, but the former problem persists.
I have done data verify and data rebuild. Doing this fixes some problems (unspecified) but says that it couldn't fix everything. It then suggests that I contact the Intuit Hold Music Player Service for help.
I know that the next suggestion will be to download QB 22, but I prefer to wait until a new product is in the channel for about 6 months before doing a major version upgrade. Plus, this problem has survived upgrading from 18 to 21.
How big is your file size?
Hello, I-Already-Had-A-Username.
Thank you for raising your concern here with us on the Community page. I appreciate for performing verify rebuild to help eliminate some issues you've encountered. Since the troubleshooting steps you've tried for this issue did not fix everything, I have another recommendation for you that can help when workstations open the company file in single-user mode. We can download and run the QuickBooks File Doctor. This will fix company files and network issues in QuickBooks Desktop. For the detailed steps, please check this article: QuickBooks File Doctor.
Aside from that, we need to make sure that your Database Server Manager is properly set up. This is the tool that allows users to access the company data. Please check this article about QuickBooks Database Server Manager and let's perform all the steps provided. Also, updating to its latest release will help you fix issues within your company.
If the troubleshooting steps didn't work, I highly recommend contacting our Phone Support Team. This way, they can further investigate this matter and they can recommend more fixes and resolve your issue in a timely manner.

It's just over 1GB.
I'll try the File Doctor. Haven't done that since migrating to 21.
Hi,
Using Enterprise. Apologies for leaving that out.
QBD Enterprise. Apologies for leaving that out.
Your file size should be fine running on QBD Enterprise. Create a dummy file or open the sample one to isolate the issue. Did you encounter the same error?
