The SKU option is available in all QuickBooks Online versions, Yvonne. You should be able to enter the SKU number when creating a product/service item.
To display the SKU column when creating a transaction, you'll need to turn on this function first. Here's how to do it:
Click the Gear icon in the upper-right corner of the page and select Account and Settings.
Select the Sales tab and go to the Products and services section.
Mark the Show SKU column box.
Click Save and Done.
If you're having issues entering or displaying the SKU, I'd recommend doing the browser troubleshooting steps. This will help us get rid any cache-related issues. Here's how to do it:
Access your QuickBooks Online account through a private browser.
If the SKU are already showing or you can enter them successfully, we can clear the cache storage of your regular browser.
Other browsers are good alternatives to access your account, too.

I want to add a non-inventory sku to an invoice. Ive set up the non-inventory sku but it will not let me select it. It doesnt even show up as a sku option. Why not?
QuickBooks Online will auto-populate the sku number in the SKU field when selecting an item. We're unable to search and select a product in that field. However, we can search and select it in the Product/Service field using an sku number.
This is a bit silly not having it available, is this going to change To me it is a dealbreaker as to whether I use QB or not

QuickBooks Online (QBO) will only auto-populate the SKU number in the SKU field when selecting an item. The option to search and select a product in that field is unavailable. However, we can search and select it in the Product/Service field using an SKU number. We recommend submitting product suggestions to our engineers about this one by following these steps:
Click the Gear icon at the top.
Choose Feedback.
Enter your comments or product suggestions.
Then select Next to submit feedback.
Your valuable feedback goes to our Product Development team to help improve your experience in QBO. You can track feature requests through the QuickBooks Online Feature Requests website. To keep updated with any upcoming QuickBooks updates and enhancements, feel free to visit these blogs:
