Thank you for your prompt response, Mcbodvarsson. I’ll make sure you receive all the necessary information regarding the Disk Image backup file in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac. You can trust that I’m here to help you every step of the way and provide you with the support you need.
QuickBooks for Mac creates a DMG file when you back up your company data. This file includes a complete copy of your company file, along with any additional documents you’ve saved in QuickBooks, such as forms or PDFs. The DMG format ensures that all relevant information is securely stored and can be easily restored when needed.
If you're ready, you can continue with the restoration. However, the backup file will overwrite any existing data in your current company file with the data from the backup. This includes all transactions, settings, and records up to the point the backup was made.
That said, if there have been any updates or transactions in your current company file since you transferred everything from the old Mac, those changes will be lost if you proceed with the restoration.
I'll be adding this page for more details and complete instruction on how to back up your QuickBooks Desktop for Mac company file.
Additionally, refer to this page in case you need to use the multiuser mode. This lets multiple users work on a company file all at once: Use multiuser mode in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.
