Buy nowHello, I'm changing account numbers and when I click to save I get this error message: "Another account is already using this number and cannot be merged because this account has subaccounts." I have searched for duplicate numbers but can't find any and the system is not showing me any duplicates.
Subaccounts won't have the same account number, but they will be assigned to the account that is giving you the error. To see which accounts have subaccounts:
Accounting > Chart of Accounts
The slightly indented account names are subaccounts.
If you choose Edit under Action (far right), the Account popup window will appear, and there will be a checkmark in the box next to "is sub account."
I just want to add more information that might have caused the issue, amandapeoplesmemorial.
It's possible that the account with the duplicate number was made inactive. This is the reason why you can't see it.
Let me help you check if that's the case. Here's how:
After finding it, click the drop-down list beside View register or Run report. Then, select Edit to change the account number.
