I am getting an error code #1013 when my back up fails...but the link to that code does not work, and I cannot find it by searching for it!  Any clue how to resolve this folks?  Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the QuickBooks Community, djgauthier.

I'm here to make sure you'll be able to get rid of the #1013 error code when trying to back up.

Let's run the IDP Diagnostic tool to help identify the cause of the error while trying to do a back up.

    Here's how:

    1. Right-click the IDP icon in the Windows System Tray.

    2. Select About Intuit Data Protect.

    3. Press and hold the Ctrl + F2 keys on your keyboard.

    4. Choose Run Diagnostics.

For your reference, you can also follow the outlined steps in the article below:

If the problem persists, please contact Customer Support at 1-800-4-INTUIT.

If you need more help concerning the error message, please don't hesitate to let me know. I'll be here to assist you.

I too am unable to back up on-line...have talked twice to Intuit Support and the problem remains unresolved.  History...Had to replace computer (iMac) and have to run QB on a virtual machine with Windows using Parallels.  For over 20 years have been using VMware Fusion for the virtual machine with no problems, but IT suggested switching to Parallels.  Windows, Parallels and QB were all installed with latest updates.  After installation of all of the new software back-up worked fine for a couple of weeks and then stopped working.  Intuit Support suggested reinstalling QB which was done along with reinstallation of Parallels and Windows and back-up still fails.  There is communication as I do get the e-mails saying that back-up was unsuccessful.  I have also reconfigured the back-up and get to the point where it says "backing up data", but after it runs for awhile I get the data back-up unsuccessful popup and also citing error 1013.  Any ideas what the problem might be?  Thanks!

I appreciate you for sharing your concerns in this thread, @Sumiko

I can see that you're using a 3rd party app (Parallels), which could be the root cause of the issue.

As much as I'd love to with this, it's beyond my scope of support. Hence, I'd recommend contacting our Intuit Developer Support. They can help you with these types of concerns and provide you with resolutions.

Should you have any other concerns that are related to QuickBooks, feel free to post again. I'm always around to be your guide.
