This week a column called Act. Cost is showing up in my QB reports.  No where can I find a way to remove it.

This column name does not show up if you select Customize>Columns>Search Columns

Does anyone have suggestions?

I have attached a screen shot of the column in question.

@kelper62  As far as removing the column, you can do so by resizing it out of existence, but there have been reports that this causes further issues, and it's a temporary fix anyway.

As far as I can tell, they changed some column names to other column names and broke a lot of report functionality.

Hello there, @kelper62.

Before anything else, I'd like to ensure we're on the same page. Did you update your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) recently? If not, I recommend performing the Verify and Rebuild process to restore your report to its default and remove Act. Cost from your Custom Transaction Detail report. Refer to this article for further guidelines: Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop.

If you happen to update the program and then encounter the changes, I recommend contacting our Live Support Team. This way, they can gather more details about your experience and provide the process on how you can troubleshoot this. These are the steps:

  1. Access your QuickBooks Desktop company.
  2. Go to Help, then select QuickBooks Desktop Help/Contact Us.
  3. Enter a question, keyword, or topic you need help with.
  4. If you can't find answers to your questions, select Contact Us to be connected to an expert for help. A reminder, you need to search for an article before you'll see the Contact Us option.

For further details, please see this page: Get help with QuickBooks products and services.

Additionally, you can check the Create a memorized report section in this article to help you save your current settings for future use: Create, access and modify memorized reports.

Count me in any time if you have other QuickBooks-related inquiries. As always, I'll be around to deliver a prompt response and assist you. Stay safe.

Unfortunately "verify data" & "run rebuild" does not fix the problem.  I have been on the phone with QB customer support for over an hour and he could not determine a solution.  I have many memorized reports that are no longer running properly as of this week.

I agree with everyone else this happen with the latest update.  My reports worked perfectly last week.

The same is happening to me after updating QB Desktop. Can't figure out how to correct the issue. I export and delete columns for now but not ideal.

Manually deleting columns can lead to inaccuracies in reports, @Babdullah.

Enhancements have been implemented in QuickBooks Desktop version R13_50 and later. To know your current version, simply press the F2 key while using QuickBooks Desktop.

However, if you've ensured that your software is up-to-date, and if you haven't yet, consider checking this article to perform basic data damage troubleshooting steps: Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop.

If the issue persists, I'd encourage contacting our live support team for further review and assistance. Here's how:

  1. Open QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. On the upper right corner, go to the Help icon.
  3. Choose QuickBooks Desktop Help/Contact Us
  4. Select Contact Us below
  5. Type in your questions, then click Continue.
