Remove qr code from modern invoice

Starting today (2024-06-25), the modern invoice system is adding a qr code link to our invoices.

We do not want this and can not figure out how to remove it.We have reviewed the invoice sidebar customization options and the account options.

The message says

View invoice online Scan code or go to the link below to view the invoice online.

We do not appreciate this change being foisted on us. Please advise asap.

Remove qr code from modern invoice

We would also like to know how to remove this - as well as the "Review and Pay" button that prints on my invoices.  We do take credit cards, but it is a completely useless thing to be printed on the invoice when you are mailing the invoice and not sending it electronically.  The QR code takes up so much of the page that every invoice is now 2 pages instead of 1. Huge waste of paper. We don't want it on there.  There should be a way to remove it but we also cannot figure it out.  Help!

Remove qr code from modern invoice

Hi there, @JollyWizard and @Gateway Ag.

We understand how challenging new changes can be, especially when they're unexpected. I assure you that we're here to assist you with a workaround for removing a QR code from your invoice.

The modern template of the new invoice experience is defaulted to have the QR code turned on. As an alternative way of removing this, you'll need to use other templates for your invoices.

Here's how:

  1. On the left menu, click the + New and select Invoice.
  2. Hit the Manage button and find the Design section.
  3. Under the Other templates section, you can choose any templates you currently have, such as Standard.

To remove the Review and Pay button,  turn off the Accepted Payment methods for that invoice only. You'll need to turn it on again if you prefer to invoice your customers electronically. After turning it off, you'll see the View Details button. If you also want to get rid of it, you can download the PDF and manually edit it outside QuickBooks.

Here's how:

  1. On the left menu, click the + New and select Invoice.
  2. Hit the Manage button and find the Payment Options section.
  3. Toggle off all payment options.

After changing to other templates, the QR code in your invoices is now gone. Please note that when transferring to other templates besides Modern, you'll need to Print and download the PDF to preview the invoice you created.

Additionally, you can also consider customizing your invoice templates with the old layout to personalize your Standard template in QuickBooks Online.

Let me know if you have additional concerns besides removing a QR code from the modern invoice experience in QuickBooks Online. I'd gladly assist you any time.

Remove qr code from modern invoice

I second this sentiment. I've been fighting with QB customer service all week about it. It's a pretty blatant effort to worm people's information/trackers from their phones without them thinking about it. That, and/or they just want people to pay through them? Whatever the case, I can safely say that this may be the straw that breaks the camel's back...

I have resorted to opening the invoices in Acrobat and removing the QR codes manually.  Perhaps not an option for some, but it's relatively quick.  Hate that it's added an extra step.

I've always been annoyed with Quickbooks' incessant attempts at cross-selling services I have less than zero interest in.  I'm already paying for the service I want.  I just want to manage my books...  I don't deserve to have my interface cluttered with "tips," boxes, and banner ads advertising unneeded paid help or insanely expensive payment/banking services.  All of it clutters the interface and makes the tools harder to use.  The recent blue banner ad for paid accounting help pops up on every new screen and actually makes the horizontal scroll functionality inaccessible in reports until the "X" is clicked.  It's driving me insane.

Like another commenter said, this QR code fiasco may be the last straw.  It's a blatant attempt to direct users to Quickbooks Payments, so Intuit can get a cut.  They need to add an option to remove this immediately.  The "workaround" to use a different invoice template provided above is unacceptable.
