Question

Restoring a company file

I was having issues with my company file after transferring from desktop. It was suggested by a QB tech support that I wipe the file and transfer again.   After wiping it won't let me import the desktop file because I had already made an E-pay on that company file. I have been trying to get back in touch with QB and filed a request with Data Systems but they have not been too quick to help.

Anyone have any advice or ideas?

this is the response I get. There needs to be a way to work around this. I have deactivated payroll services on both desktop and online but that didn't help. I am desperate for someone to help me.

Did you migrate data from QBD US version to QBO US version?

I did all of these steps already. I'm not sure if it actually purged everything though.  My tags are still there and my employee information is still intact.  Does this mean something didn't fully work or is this normal to still have these items remain?

The biggest issue is the error message I mentioned earlier that is preventing me from reinstalling my files.

Hi Trueburton,

Thanks for the update. Let me continue to help.

The purge will also remove payroll data. In fact, part of the reminder in the article says you will need to re-enter the employee and payroll information.

You can purge up your QBO company again or export a blank company file from QuickBooks Desktop.

Let me know how the steps work for you. We're just right here if you need further assistance. Take care!
