Question

Issue with downgrading account

Has anyone else experienced this?

Today, September 21, I tried to downgrade my QuickBooks plan from $275/month to the $85/month plan before my next billing date on September 24.

The system will not allow me to complete the downgrade because of what QuickBooks support told me is a known technical bug. I spent approximately 60 minutes on hold today trying to get help, and the only resolution I was given was to be placed in an email update queue and wait for notification when the issue is fixed.

That does not solve the immediate problem. My account is still scheduled to be charged $275 on September 24, even though I am actively trying to downgrade before the renewal date.

I am asking QuickBooks to honor my downgrade request effective today and ensure I am not charged the higher plan amount because of a technical issue on their end.

Has anyone found a way to get this escalated or resolved before the next billing date?

I understand how frustrating this situation is, especially after spending considerable time seeking help. To speed this up, please check your account for anything that may be blocking the change. Potential blockers include:

  • Having more active users than the lower plan allows.
  • Inventory tracking enabled.
  • Class or location tracking turned on.
  • Active recurring transactions.
  • A pending payment or billing hold.

Address these issues and try to downgrade again.

If the system still doesn't allow the downgrade, please call our Intuit Expert again and ask them to document your request with an effective date. This will ensure that QuickBooks honors your request or provides a prorated refund if you are charged the higher rate due to the technical issue. You are entitled to a refund option even if the charge has already been processed.
