Quickbooks 2021 Not loading Intuit login

Hello, Pretty sure I know the answer to this

I work for a MSP, we have a client using 2021 version, the Intuit login screen just spins and never loads.

I assume the login was blocked out due to the version being EOL.

Company file is good

Just the online Intuit account.

You’re exactly right, @geneDigi. Since QuickBooks 2021 is no longer supported, the login screen won't load because it can't connect to Intuit’s servers.

At this point, your client's options are  to move their QuickBooks Desktop company file to QuickBooks Online or update their company files to a new version of QuickBooks Desktop.

Let me know if you have any other questions about the transition, and I'll be happy to help.

Did your client try to create a new company file?

No because at no point they had a issue with their files.

Just the pop up stopped working.

@geneDigi I disconnect from the internet before I open QB 2021 and I am able to log into my file with no problems.  Once the file is open I can connect back to the internet.

I have a related question as I have this version and I purchased the non-subscription based license that shows as activated in CAMPs and have never used any of the optional add-on online services.

Pretty sure that violates the terms of service on your end that I agreed to at the time I purchased it. It was sold as a perpetual single seat license and now the local functionality has been degraded due to this login issue.

I understand why this situation would be concerning, given your expectations when you purchased the product. Please note that QuickBooks Desktop 2021 reached end of service on May 31, 2024. Intuit services like login, licensing sync, and connected features may no longer load. Your perpetual license is still valid for local use, but online-connected features are no longer supported.

The issue you are experiencing does not affect your rights under the 2021 Software License Agreement, but rather a result of the discontinued backend services that the login screen depends on. To continue using the software locally, you can try opening QuickBooks Desktop offline to bypass the login prompt, as another user suggested. You can also use a previously authorized Windows user profile where QuickBooks has already been activated.

I'll keep this conversation open for any updates or questions you may have.

Since connecting to the Intuit Account isn’t an option, how can I add/manage users?

You can still add users even if it has been discontinued. Just make sure to sign in as an admin user of the company file.

Here’s how:

1. Go to the Company menu.

2. Select Set Up Users and Password, then Set up Users.

3. Fill out the necessary information and then click Next.

4. On the Access for user, choose which area of QuickBooks the user has access to and select Next.

5. Click Finish.

That's interesting as the emailing of invoices was a direct link between my machine and my email service and did not ever traverse Intuit servers. I didn't use any of the online features and the software continued to work via smtp as recently as last month. Bypassing the login as described by the other user does not help in this regard.

If I ever did, I would be hosed as it won't allow me to create a new company file without forcing a login that never loads. It can be skipped initially but then nags to login. Would be really nice if they would provide some kind of way to locally cache the authentication so that the SMTP functionality that doesn't use their backend at all would continue to work. Their definition of "support" is and has been a very unfunny joke for years.
