Question

Old 940 Forms

My son’s wife was handling his bookkeeping and did not file forms 940 for 2022-current.  QB only does not allow going back any further than 2025.  He also used Turbotax business.  Is there any way to file those through either QB or TT?  IRS has been no help.

QuickBooks Desktop doesn't support Form 940 filings for prior years, as it only handles the current tax year. However, you can pull payroll reports in QuickBooks Desktop to gather the data needed to prepare and file prior-year returns directly with the IRS.

For more help with filing manually, see this guide: Prior year forms and instructions.

Thank you for the response.   Looks like we will have to mail them.  I wanted to avoid that since it takes the IRS so long to process.
