Question

Payroll update error 1612

My software said I needed to update. I clicked it and it said there was an error, 1612. It said to write it down and type it in on the website for steps to correct. I did not see anywhere to type it in

  1. Go to Employees, then select Get Payroll Updates.
  2. Select Download Entire Update to ensure a complete download of the tax table.
  3. Click Update. You’ll see a confirmation message once the update is complete.

 

If the tax table update didn’t resolve it, then the problem lies within your company file. Follow these steps to review and fix data integrity:

 

  1. Go to Window, then select Close All.
  2. Go to File, then select Utilities.
  3. Select Verify Data and review the results:
    • If "QuickBooks detected no problems with your data," no further action is needed.
    • If an error message appears, search for it on the QuickBooks Desktop support site for fixes.
    • If "Your data has lost integrity" appears, rebuild your data to repair file damage.

QuickBooks error code 1612 occurs when you attempt to update your QuickBooks Desktop but the update fails, or the component required to install the update is unavailable. Before proceeding with the troubleshooting, you must get to know the possible reasons that trigger QuickBooks Update Error 1612. Below is a list of these causes:
 

  • Some software installation errors might cause this update error.
  • A damaged Windows Registry may also cause this error to occur.
  • A corrupted installation of QuickBooks Desktop may result in this error.
  • Improper and unscheduled system shutdowns due to power outages or other reasons may also cause this error.
  • Accidental deletion of essential files might trigger this error.
  • Corrupted or damaged company files may also be the reason for this error.
  • This error might occur when installing the QuickBooks software through a damaged or corrupted CD.
  • A virus or malware attack may also prompt this error.
     

To fix this, please make sure your Windows is updated and compatible with your QuickBooks version. Next, perform a Verify and Rebuild, then run the QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool to fix common errors within the installation process.

I had Error 1612 show up also.  Did what it said and found no support for this error.
