Can we request a refund for a payment once it has been processed via direct debit?

We have processed the superannuation payment for Precision CH via direct debit, and the payment has already been debited from the bank account.(on 15.09.2026) At this stage, would it be possible to request a refund or reverse the payment?

Once a superannuation direct debit payment has been successfully processed and debited from your bank account, you cannot cancel, reverse, or request a refund through QuickBooks.

QuickBooks serves only as the initiator that submits the super batch, while the actual transaction is managed by the clearing house. Since your payment was debited on 15 September 2026, it is likely that the funds have moved past the point where they can be intercepted. They are probably either in the process of being distributed or have already been transferred to the respective employee super funds.

If there was a mismatch in an employee's membership number or a banking issue, the clearing house will usually reject or auto-cancel the batch after a set number of business days, automatically returning the funds to your designated bank account.

You can check the status of the super batch in Payroll to confirm whether it is still pending with the clearing house or already marked as sent. Here’s how:

1. Go to Reports, then select Standard reports.

2. Click on Super Payments under Payroll.

3. Select the ID number to view the information for a super payment.

If the batch has already been fully disbursed to the employee super funds, please note that under superannuation laws, contributions sent to a fund generally cannot be refunded directly to the employer, as they are typically locked as contributions.

However, if the funds are still pending, stuck, or rejected at the clearing house level, you can reach out to them directly and request a refund.
