Update your EFTPS internet password

My federal tax payment was rejected because the password expired.  The directions for updating your EFTPS password on the gov't site are fine and I did that.  However, when trying to reset the password in QB, the directions call for selecting your federal tax payment in the "Pay Taxes" window and then taking further steps from there.  This is not possible because the federal tax payment shows as already submitted and can't be changed.  That's a dead end.  Anybody know where to go from there?

Appreciate the time you've taken to update your password, @rjlemi.

I'll make sure you're able to update your EFTPS password in QuickBooks Desktop so you can process your payroll taxes accordingly.

Since the issue persists, I recommend contacting our Customer Care Support. You can work with one of our specialists in creating a ticket letting our engineering team investigate the root cause of the problem raised. To do so:

  1. Go to Help.
  2. Select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. Click Contact Us.
  4. Enter Unable to update EFTPS password for payroll tax payments in the What can we help you with? text area.
  5. Choose Chat with us or Have us call you to connect with our team online.

On that same page, I'm also including this article for the list of reports you can use: Create and Manage Reports in QuickBooks Desktop. In this reference, you're able to customize the sources and targets of a certain report to display a certain portion of your payroll activity.

Let me know how it goes in the comments below. Don't forget to include my name, @JonpriL, in your reply so that I can get back here and answer all your QuickBooks concerns. Take care always, @rjlemi!

Enter the new password as you create and send the next EFTPS payment.

Thanks. My issue was that I first had to change/delete the rejected payment which QB still listed as accepted.  I couldn't figure out how to delete it, but QB support today helped me out with that.
