I run quickbooks premier 2019 on a pc. I get the following code

"an error has occurred on a script on this page

line 29

char 55

err   expected "y"

code  0

and the url

https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/quickbooks-canada-q-a/misc/03/quickbooks-questions-ca?from=QBDT&label=QuickBooks+Desktop

do you wish to continue running scripts on this page .....yes  no"  (end of qb message)

it doesnot matter if I choose yes or no, the problem repeats.  Is this a programming error?  i do not want to switch to a suscription model

Hello there, @acmidas. QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) depends on Internet Explorer's settings to function correctly, and misconfigured settings can lead to script errors.

Even if you don't often use Internet Explorer, QBDT requires it for certain features. Make sure that Internet Explorer is correctly configured and updated to the latest version compatible with your Windows system, such as Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 10/11.

Additionally, to prevent script errors, you can disable script debugging in Internet Explorer. Here’s how:

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Click the Gear icon and select Internet Options.
  3. Go to the Advanced tab.
  4. Under the Browsing section:
    • Check Disable script debugging in Internet Explorer.
    • Check Disable script debugging Other.
    • Uncheck Display a notification about every script error.
  5. Click Apply, then OK.

Please let us know if you need any assistance. We're always here to help.

@acmidas

What Windows OS do you run? Win 11 or else?

windows 11, thanks for replying.  It didnt work and there are other error codes that pop up.

I have the install disk. I could remove program and re install, but maybe there is a software connection problem

I made microsoft edge my default browser and followed the initial instructions.

Got another solution to try?

Thanks

This error message is common when running older versions of QB on Win 11. However, as I know, you wouldn't encounter this error message with QB 2019 on Win 11. Install the trial version of QB Desktop 2024 to isolate the problem.
