Can you confirm if the error you’re seeing is H303 while backing up in QuickBooks Desktop?

If so, this usually happens when one or more workstations are incorrectly configured to run in multi-user mode. Only the server computer (the one that stores your company file) should host multi-user access.

To resolve the issue:

  1. On all workstations except the server, open QuickBooks without opening your company file. Then, go to File > Utilities and select Stop Hosting Multi-User Access if available. If you see Host Multi-User Access, do not select it; this workstation is not causing the issue.
  2. On the server computer, open QuickBooks, go to File > Utilities, and make sure Host Multi-User Access is selected.
  3. Save the backup to a local folder (such as Documents) and ensure your Windows user has Full Control permissions.

After completing these steps, you should be able to create backups without seeing H303.

If the error is not H303, please provide a screenshot of the exact error so we can give accurate guidance.
