Question

new qb software update

Each time I open my quick books pro 2024 I am getting a message that there is a new quick books software update,  unfortunetly it will not update.     Any suggestions

First, let's check if you have the latest release by opening QuickBooks Desktop and pressing F2 (or Ctrl+1) to access the Product Information window. The latest release for QuickBooks Desktop 2024 is Release 15 (R15_51.1).

 

If you don't have the latest version, we can proceed with troubleshooting. Sometimes, an update may not move to the next release number. To resolve this, let’s try downloading the update again. Repeat these steps a few times to see if the release number changes.

 

Here's how: 

 

  1. Navigate to Help and choose Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Click "Update Now," followed by "Get Updates."
  3. Close and reopen QuickBooks to attempt installing the update once more.

 

If the release number does not change, proceed with Solution 2: End task on the following processes.

Hello  my release is R14-38

Have tried to do the update again and does not work

One potential issue is the system date and time on your computer, which can interfere with the update process. To verify and adjust your system date and time, follow these steps:

 

  1. Right-click the system clock on your desktop, then select Adjust Date/Time.
  2. Choose Change date and time, then specify the current date and time.
  3. Click OK twice.
  4. Close and reopen QuickBooks Desktop.
  5. Rerun the update of QuickBooks Desktop.

 

If the updates still fail, check your internet connection by opening a browser and visiting trusted websites. If websites don’t load, kindly contact your internet service provider for assistance. On the other hand, if they load successfully, open QuickBooks Desktop and proceed to the steps below:

 

  1. On the Help menu, choose Internet Connection Setup.
  2. Select Use my computer's Internet connection settings to establish a connection when this application accesses the Internet.
  3. Click Next, then pick Advanced Connection Settings.
  4. Hover over the Advanced tab, then select Restore Advanced Settings.
  5. Tap Ok, then Done.
  6. Update QuickBooks Desktop again.
