Finish Your Payment Customer Email

Two weeks ago, my customers started receiving emails after they open an invoice reminding them that they did not pay.  I contacted Quickbooks, and as usual they were first completely confused by a feature in their own software and took them a week to get back to me.  When they did, they stated this is a new feature and there is no option to turn it on or off.  Does anyone know if there is a way to turn these emails off?  Or is there a way to edit these emails as they are completely unprofessional?

This is not a reminder email.  I have those set and have zero issues.  This is appears to be a new feature rolled out with the typical zero thought Quickbooks gives to features.

@briandalphonse

I completely understand how alarming it is to have automatic payment reminders sent to customers without your permission.

I've confirmed there's an ongoing investigation regarding these automatic "Finish your Payment" emails, and added your account to it. This ensures you'll receive direct email updates as soon as our Product Investigations team shares news or confirms a fix.

This feature is incredibly frustrating and needs to be removed ASAP—or at the very least, QuickBooks needs to give us the ability to turn it off.

I don’t need QuickBooks automatically emailing my customers simply because they opened an invoice and haven’t paid it yet. I already have payment reminders configured exactly how I want them, and they work perfectly fine.

What makes this worse is that these new emails come across as completely unprofessional, and apparently we can’t even edit the wording or opt out of sending them.

QuickBooks should not be communicating with our customers on our behalf without giving us control over if, when, and how those communications are sent. Please give businesses the ability to disable this feature ASAP.

Definitely remove or provide controls for this error... Not calling it a feature until it's listed in features and has a control infrastructure.

Y'all gotta stop vide coding this... Accounting software.

I’m here to find out how to stop these emails too! I do not like them. We don’t want QBO emailing our customers without our knowledge and approval.

I may have this same issue, as we have suddenly had customers start trying to pay us using QB. The problem with this is that the customer gives their money to QB, and QB just holds it, trying to force us to use their merchant services. We can’t get the money without signing up for the service that we do not want! QB has been holding over $10k for over ten days!

This must be why customers have suddenly started trying to pay us using their pay feature! QB must be sending pay links, although we have never authorized this.

Unreal… This is very unprofessional and is already affecting a few of my client relationships.  I’ve spent almost an hour on the phone this week excusing ourselves due to this ridiculous new “feature” no one asked for.  PLEASE give us an option to turn it off, or AT LEAST reword it.

This should have only ever been rolled out as off by default and opt-in only! It’s actually kind of crazy they launched this with it on and no way to turn it off! This needs a settings toggle ASAP!

This is horrible!  It makes my clients look very unprofessional and impatient with customers where they already have agreed upon payment terms in place when the customer receives an email saying they need to finish making their payment less than a week after the original invoice was sent.  This is totally unnecessary as the reminders already serve this purpose and they are customizable for each Intuit user.  This new “feature” is a waste of time and money on Intuit’s part  . . . it would have been better spent creating a feature to allow more customization to the existing reminder feature (for example, it would be great to be able to set up different reminder timelines for different customers . . . like being able to send first reminder to one customer 7 days after invoice due date but waiting until 15 days to send first reminder to a different customer).  This new “feature” email needs to be updated immediately as something users choose by opting-in or at the very least have the option to turn it off.  I cannot send invoices out as long as this follow up email will be going out as I have some very upset clients due to their customers being very upset about receiving these emails and I use QBO for 10 clients . . . looks like I may be forced to learn a new accounting program which I really hope I don’t have to do so get this fixed ASAP please!!!!!

I also contacted Quickbooks about this and of course they played it off like usual with no help and bullshit apologies with no fix.

Since Quickbooks seems uninterested in fixing this issue promptly I will be contacting the FTC and looking to sue them as they are tarnishing my relationships with my customers and there is no way for me to shut them off or anyway for my customers to unsubscribe.…

I recommend everyone else that came here do the same.

Seems like we might have grounds for class action lawsuit if we are losing customers and members because of the issues this is causing!

Yup, this needs to be removed immediately. Not cool!!! I want 75% refund per month until it’s fixed.

Ha! All they do is add “features” that don’t work and raise the monthly charge.  This and many other “features” will not be fixed - they are intentional.  The developers for this software are contracted workers (not employees).  If they fix the software they will be out of a contract. It’s all about the money. QuickBooks used to be a good program many, many years ago.  Not now.  I’m on the search for a different program that follows basic accounting needs.
