Question

Items Tab Pop ups

When I click on the “Item” tab to make changes to inventory items, the “All Apps” tool bar opens, as well as “Some items need your attention” notifications.

I already have the “SHORTCUTS” bar open down the left side of the screen.

I have several questions:

  1.  How do I stop the “All Apps” toolbar from opening unless I click on it?
  2. How do I stop the “Some items . . . “ notifications from opening?
  3. Item 1 states “1 item doesn't have an initial cost. Add now” -- this takes me to a page that says “We’re sorry, we can’t find the page you requested.”  How do I fix this?

Thanks for any help provided.

There's no setting to fully disable the All Apps panel from opening automatically when you click items. However, you can click the Hide or Collapse button next to All Apps in the upper-right corner of your screen after selecting an item.

Regarding the "Some items need your attention" message in the Products & Services tab, these notifications are generated by QuickBooks Online when it detects setup gaps or low stock. You can resolve this by fixing the issue or by clicking the X on the notification banner.

For the error you received when clicking Add now, you can skip the link and edit the item manually. Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon in the upper-right corner of your screen.
  2. Select Products and services.
  3. Find the item flagged as having no initial cost.
  4. Open it with Edit in the Actions column.
  5. In the Inventory info, select Starting value.
  6. Click Add lines, then enter the item with no initial cost in the Product/Variant column.
  7. Enter the cost in the Initial cost column.
  8. Hit Save once done.

Refresh the page, and you will no longer see the notification.
