There are no specific QuickBooks Desktop 2019 release notes guaranteed for Apple Silicon operating systems. However, you can manually download and install the latest available update for the Intel-based app directly from Intuit's Downloads & Updates page before it is discontinued.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Downloads & Updates page.
  2. Select the standard setup.
  3. Select your Country, Product, and Version (Year).
  4. Select Search.
  5. Select Get the latest updates.
  6. Open the downloaded file to install the update.
  7. Restart your computer to apply the updates.

I have the same question. My Mac indicates that future OS’s will not support the Intel-based app. I have no interest in going the subscription route. Will there be an update to QB 2019 for Mac that will work universally or specifically with Apple Silicon? Or am I out of luck once the new OS’s are released?

There is no update that will make QuickBooks 2019 for Mac run as a Universal (Intel + Apple Silicon) binary, but transitioning to a supported version is a great chance to keep your financial workflow running securely on your new Mac.

It is also long out of support, so as newer mac OS versions roll out, it'll keep getting less compatible and more prone to crashes. The real path forward is upgrading to a current QuickBooks Desktop for Mac versions, which run natively on Apple Silicon.

@ktkauf Did you purchase a new Mac? You should still be able to run QBD 2019 on Tahoe with minimal random issues.
