Question

QB Slow to Start

Quickbooks takes forever to start. I have narrowed the issue down to the desktop app connecting to the intuit online account basically to verify that I am a subscriber. Intuit upgrade your servers, this process takes several minutes and is quite annoying. I am running the latest version of QuickBooks desktop on a very fast windows 11 computer with 24 processors, 64G of ram and a 1Gbps internet connection this should NOT take 5 minutes to start the program. I have moved my entire company file to a NVME internal dive and its still maddening to use this program as it has become incredibly slow. I have followed every suggestion in trying to speed up this program and my company file is fairly small 107MB. I have run the utilities to compress and even truncate older data. I am in single user mode now and no longer run on multiple computers.

Open the sample file. Is it still slow?

You are missing the issue. When I start QB the delay is the connection to Intuit to verify my account and subscription. Once QB is open I can open a company file fairly quickly. I don't leave QB open all day and every time I start the program it takes forever with the little yellow box in the upper right connecting to Intuit. Granted using the program is like molasses as well but its really annoying the amount of time it takes to start the program. I have to run the utilities rebuild/compress nearly monthly otherwise it takes 10-60 seconds just to process a payment on an account when I click "save".  I only have 200 customers and all I use is invoice and payments, nothing else. In 20 years I have added 25000 invoices and several times using compress I have truncated the data to a few years of data. I also use Intuit CC processing. Even though my customer pay by clicking on the payment link 80% of the time QB cant figure out which invoice to apply the payments to and often applies to the wrong one making the next payment error out and I have to move the previous payment to the correct invoice and retry the new payment. Very time consuming for something thats supposed to be automatic.

Hi there, Daj. I can see that you have done everything right on your end, and it is tough when things do not go smoothly.

Since your QuickBooks is still slow, let’s install and run the QuickBooks Tool Hub. This is a tool that will run a quick fix on your program to help it start up much faster.

Here’s how:

  1. Close QuickBooks.
  2. Download the most recent version (1.6.0.8) of the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Save the file somewhere you can easily find it.
  3. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
  5. When the installation finishes, double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.

If the issue persists, I recommend contacting our Live Support team so they can take a look of your software and guide you through the next steps to fix it.

If you have follow-up questions, don’t hesitate to revisit this thread.
