Sam,

I am now having the same problem, July 2022. Did you find a resolution? I've done everything except re-install microsoft office. I would like to know if that worked before I tackle that challenge!

I never had any issues until 7/28/22.

I was on with QB customer support for 1.5 hrs last week.... they just told me my laptop processor was too slow! I've used QB on the same computer since 2020. I also installed on a newer laptop with a faster processor, and still got similar issues, except it froze up completely when I tried to email... instead of shutting down.

thank you

I appreciate you joining this thread, TN59. Allow me to step in and provide few troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue.

Updating the QuickBooks Desktop release version is a good start when it comes to fixing program-related issues. After that, let's make sure to right-click the app and Run as Administrator when re-opening QuickBooks.

If you're still getting the same issue, we can run the QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool (QBInstall Tool). This will help us identify any component issues related to your QuickBooks Desktop. Here's how:

1. Download the QuickBooks Install DiagnosticTool.

2. When prompted, save the file to the local Desktop.

3. Close any open programs and run the QBInstall Tool.
Note: It may take up to 20mins to complete, depending on your internet speed and computer's performance.

4. Restart the computer after running the tool to ensure the components are properly updated.

We can refer to this article for detailed information: Fix issues when QuickBooks has stopped working. This will provide us steps on how to rename the QBWUSER.ini file.

However, if the issue persists, I'd suggest getting in touch with our QuickBooks Support again. To ensure we address your concern on time, check out our support hours. Here's how to get in touch or chat with us:

Go to https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/contact.
Choose your QuickBooks Product.
Select your QuickBooks version.
Give a brief description of your issue and click Continue.
Then choose a way to connect.

In case you need some resources, I recommend visiting this link: Resource Hub. This will provide us with links and videos about managing your QuickBooks Desktop account, income, expenses, inventory, and running reports.

If you have any other questions or need anything else in QuickBooks, let me know in the comment below. I'll be more than happy to help you in any way I can, TN59.

I fixed this issue by opening Excel > Options > Save > Scroll to bottom of page > Delete cached files

Also changed days to keep file in the Office Document Cache from 14 to 5. Seems to be working fine now.
