I am trying to upgrade 2018 to 2020 Desktop Pro. I went through all the steps and when the computer restarted QB was completely gone! When I try to launch exe again, I keep getting this same message “Please restart your computer and re run the installer.” I tried both the disk and the download, same message.
Let me help you sort this out, @Whirlygirl.
It's possible that the QuickBooks function is damaged. Let's first uninstall QuickBooks and reinstall it using the clean install.
Here's how to uninstall:
- Close your QuickBooks.
- While on your desktop, from the Finder menu, select Go.
- Choose Applications.
- Select the QuickBooks icon, and drag/move it to the Trash.
Next, you'll have to remove both PLIST files from the User folder as well as the System folder. This will revert all preferences back to its default settings, which could cause the product to be unregistered.
To remove the PLIST files in the user folder, here's how:
- From the Finder menu, select Go.
- Hold down the Opinion key, then choose Library.
- Open the Preferences folder.
- Locate the PLIST files with QuickBooks and your version in the name, then move them to the Trash. You'll Delete everything containing "com.intuit.QuickBooks20XX."
- Empty the Trash.
Here's how to remove the PLIST files in the system folder:
- From a new Finder window or the icon on the desktop, open the Macintosh HD.
- Go to Library, then Preferences folder.
- Locate the PLIST files with QuickBooks and your version in the name, then move them to the Trash. You'll need to Delete everything containing "com.intuit.QuickBooks20XX."
- Empty the Trash.
Once done, you can now restart your device and reinstall the QuickBooks. To do this, you can check this article for the detailed steps: Install and set up QuickBooks Mac Desktop.
