Change bank download connection to Manual update only?

QuickBooks Online doesn’t currently have a setting or toggle to stop automatic background downloads while keeping a live bank connection active. Clicking the Update button only forces an immediate manual refresh, but it doesn’t prevent the system from auto-fetching data in the background.

However, if you want to ensure transactions enter QuickBooks exclusively on your terms, you can disconnect the live bank feed and upload your statements manually.

Here’s how:

1. Go to All apps > Accounting, then Bank transactions.
2. Click the tile for your bank account, then click the pencil (edit) icon.
3. Check the box to Disconnect the account, then click Disconnect.

Once disconnected, you can upload your statements manually whenever you are ready.
