Hoping someone can help with this. Every time I open Quickbooks, my Profit & Loss report opens 2 windows, I get another window that displays the Transaction Detail by Account for last fiscal year & my Create Estimates, Customer Centre and Vender Centre auto open a window. I have no reports scheduled to run. Anyone have any thoughts on why this is happening? Or how to stop it? Thanks,
Print all journal entries ?
I am having issues making the detail types of both accounts match.
I have subscribed to Quickbooks self-employed and have been paid for several invoices since the beginning of 2023. These paid invoices are not showing up on my income statement. If I have to enter each one manually, I can’t figure out how to do it. I didn’t want to connect my bank account to quickbooks. So, my question is:Is there a way to get your income from your paid invoices to show up on reports without connecting a bank account?
Hey there, don't need a primer on the basics of accounting (worked at KPMG etc etc). What I do need a primer is on the logic of this primitive software lol. I recently joined a company which uses QB - QB desktop 2015 to be specific. Yes, I know outdated. QB sales wasn't helpful either when I asked to upgrade to 2020 so I haven't upgraded. Fiscal year is off calendar (March). I'm interested in calendar. Why in the world would ending retained earnings not = opening retained earnings regardless of how or which period you run your reports? That makes no sense to me? Is it the software? or would/could there be other reasons? I've asked the predecessor but they are not aware of why this happens. So for example, I run a report from Jan to Dec 31 2018 - ending Retained = $100. If I run a report from Jan to Dec 2019, my opening RE should be $100. Why wouldn't this be? Can someone point me to threads/articles discussing this?
Hello, I am trying to create a custom report in our Quickbooks Online account. I am trying to create a report just like the Income by Customer Summary report that is already in Quickbooks Online. However, I would like to add custom fields that I created for our customers. When I open the Income by Customer Summary report, it does not allow me to add these custom fields when I try to customize the report. How do I create a report that includes all of the data from the Income by Customer Summary report (income, expenses and net income) while also adding columns for the custom fields that I created?
I had to delete cheques already processed, and re-enter the information based on the CRA online payroll calculator. Very time consuming. The next update from them is Sept 5!
A previous bookkeeper created custom reports in a client and I want to copy/use for all other clients - I'm hoping not to have to recreate all of them!

Hello all,Looking for input on if it is possible to create items within a project to track. Lets say I have a construction project with a number of 24-01, and within that project I want to be able to track 8 different items. I really want to be able to track labour costs to each of these items, and create a report on a weekly basis how much labour costs were for each item. Is this possible or will I need to use a more construction base tracking software? Thank you!
When i try creating a journal entry into the same account, insteasd of showing as a debit and credit, QuickBooks just cancels them out.
I am a new sole proprietor. I've been using quickbooks and it is connected to my BUSINESS bank account, so it auto transfers every new transaction.I do have a separate business and personal bank accounts but it is my understanding that as a sole prop I will just file everything together at the end of the fiscal year. After saving a % of all my business income towards future taxes, I transfer the remaining balance to my personal account so I can use it from there. However... Quickbooks is asking me to categorize that transfer and I can't quite figure out what category would that be? Also, the % of income that I’m saving towards taxes - I'm also transferring that to a "savings account" inside my business account. I imagine quickbooks will also ask me to categorize that transfer and I'm not quite sure what would it fall under. Thank you!
My condo Board has made two separate special assessments in the last year. What is the best method in QuickBooks to set up a method of tracking these assessments from collecting the funds through to tracking the expenditures? Our homeowners want to know where their money is, where it has already been spent and where it will be spent with a reasonable level of detailed breakdown.Would it be appropriate to set up Classes or sub-Classes?Are there any particular methods which should be avoided? Any practical advice or examples would be appreciated.
I make food products in my business, and occasionally I have loss or spoilage. So I use cost of goods value to make something, and instead of getting the income from it, I have to toss it and would like to track this.Should I just create an expense category, and add expenses and debt the cost of goods to the spoilage account? Something like that?
