The missing component error message usually means QuickBooks has lost its connection to the Windows PDF/XPS generation tools.

To fix this, follow these steps:

  1. Close QuickBooks completely. Download and open the latest QuickBooks Tool Hub (1.6.0.8) and save the file.
  2. Open the file you downloaded and follow the on-screen steps to install.
  3. When the installation finishes, search in Windows for QuickBooks Tool Hub.
  4. In the same window, navigate to Program Problems and select QuickBooks PDF & Print Repair Tool.
  5. Reopen QuickBooks and try to email an invoice.

@MattH63 Did you reinstall your QB program on Win 11? What QB Desktop year version?

Yes, reinstalled on Windows 11.  QB Pro 2024

To resolve the issue, search at the bottom of your Windows 11 screen for "run." Then ope the "Run App" that came up under your search and typed "optionalfeatures" into the Run App. A "Windows Features" window then open and scroll down to "Microsoft XPS Document Writer" and check the box next to it. I then pressed "OK". You should be able to start creating PDF Invoices again.

You can reset the permissions for your temp folder to Full Control. This removes access restrictions, allowing QuickBooks to write temporary PDF files and complete the email delivery without errors. Here's how:

  1. Press the Windows key + R to open the RUN command.
  2. Type %TEMP% and press Enter.
  3. Right-click on an empty area within the temp folder, and select Properties.
  4. Click Security.
  5. Make sure all user names and groups in Security have Full Control.
  6. Once the permissions have been set to Full Control, save as a PDF again in QuickBooks.

After that, check Microsoft XPS Document Writer by following Step 3 from the Solution 2 section in this article: Fix PDF and Print problems with QuickBooks Desktop.

If you're still encountering the error when trying to email an invoice, please refer to the instructions in Solution 3 or Solution 4 from the same article.
