Question

JoesemM : Your answer is wrong.: It is configured for purchases and should be populating vat return.

The 0% EU Code is not populating the Vat Return. Has anyone any way around this?".

The closest built-in rate is PVA Import 0.0%, which is described as VAT on imports of goods from the EU from 01 Jan 2021. It's switched off by default. You can turn it on in your vat rates. QuickBooks UK doesn't have a rate named 0% EU on its list.

Here's how to turn it on.

  1. In the upper-left menu, select +Create, then under Vendors, choose Bill.
  2. In the Amounts are, make sure it is set to Exclusive of Tax, so the VAT column shows.
  3. Open the VAT dropdown on a line and select Manage rates.
  4. Under Activate / deactivate rates, find the import rate that matches your goods (e.g., PVA Import 0.0%) and switch it on.
  5. Hit Done to save the changes.
  6. Choose that rate in the VAT column, then select Save bill.

To protect your records, try the new rate on one test bill first, and don't change bills that are already in a filed period. Your accountant can confirm which return box suits your goods and VAT scheme.

If you're importing goods and want to see how postponed import VAT is recorded, this article explains it: Record Postponed VAT Accounting (PVA) transactions in QuickBooks.

I hope this helps you set up your VAT settings easily! If you have any other issues with QuickBooks or more questions later, just let me know. Have a great day.
